The History of Dermatology

Hello! This site is run by me, Scott M. Jackson, MD, a board certified dermatologist in Bentonville, Arkansas, and the author of Skin Disease and the History of Dermatology (2022) and Differential Diagnosis for the Dermatologist (2012). I have been practicing dermatology since 2007 and have had a fascination with history since my high school days. After majoring in history at Tulane University (Class of '98), I pursued a career in medicine, while hoping that I could someday combine these two passions. 

This website exists for me to share supplemental material for my book, Skin Disease and the History of Dermatology, and to hopefully inspire anyone who may share my interest in the history of medicine to do their own reading and learning on this intriguing topic. It is my sincere wish that you find this site useful and informative.  Check this site often for posts on assorted topics in the history of dermatology.  If you would like me to speak at your conference, please ask.
